One of our favourite day trips is Mijas, one of Andalucía's famous white villages. Perched on the mountainside, its narrow streets, whitewashed houses decorated with colourful flower pots and panoramic sea views make it the perfect introduction to the region. There is no need for a strict itinerary here. Simply wandering through the village, enjoying a long lunch on a sunny terrace and taking in the relaxed atmosphere is often enough to understand why so many visitors fall in love with southern Spain.

A little further east lies Frigiliana, often considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Smaller and quieter than Mijas, it invites visitors to slow down even further. Its cobbled streets, artisan shops and peaceful squares create the perfect setting for an afternoon stroll before enjoying dinner overlooking the surrounding hills and the Mediterranean coastline.

For those interested in history and architecture, Granada offers an entirely different experience. Home to the magnificent Alhambra Palace, the city combines centuries of Moorish heritage with a vibrant modern atmosphere. Beyond its famous monuments, Granada is also renowned for its lively tapas culture, charming Albaicín district and spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada.

Heading west, the road to Ronda is an experience in itself. Surrounded by rolling hills and olive groves, the town dramatically overlooks one of Spain's most impressive gorges. Walking across the Puente Nuevo, exploring the historic centre or simply enjoying dinner with a view makes Ronda one of the highlights of any journey through Andalucía.

If time allows, a short detour to Setenil de las Bodegas offers yet another unforgettable experience. Unlike any other village in the region, many of its houses are built directly beneath enormous rock formations, creating one of Andalucía's most unique landscapes. It is the perfect place to stop for traditional tapas before continuing your journey.
